Biography
Robert Le Poer Trench was born in July 1782. He was the youngest son of William Trench and Anne Gardiner.
He married Hon. Letitia Susanna Dillon (the daughter of Robert Dillon, 1st Baron Clonbrock and Letitia Greene) on 21 November 1805 at Bellyellis, Ireland. Notice of their marriage was printed on page 4 of the Oracle and the Daily Advertiser dated 2 December 1805:
- MARRIAGES.
- Thursday sen'night, by the Right Rev. the Lord Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, at Bellyellis, Ireland, the seat of the Hon. Richard Hare, Hon. Robert Trench, Captain in His Majesty's 93d Regiment, and brother to the Earl of Clancarty, to the Hon. Miss Dillon, sister of the Rt. Hon. Lord Clonbrock.[1]
They had five children.
Robert gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 6th Regiment of Foot. He gained the rank of Colonel.
He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Tower and Sword of Portugal (K.T.S.) and he was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)
Robert Le Poer Trench passed away on 14 March 1823. Notice of his death was printed on page 4 of the Star (London) dated 29 March 1823:
- DIED. At Chester House, Colonel the Hon. Sir Robert Le Poer Trench, K.C.B. Lieutenant-Colonel of the 74th Regiment, Youngest son of the late Lord Clancarty.[2]
