Edward died on 3 December 1928 in Ayr, Queensland, Australia, aged 80.
The death occurred last evening of one of our grand old pioneers, in the person of Edward Hayes Talbot, aged 81 years (says "Delta Advocate", Ayr). A native of England, being born at Blue Anchor Hotel, Hammersmith, on the River Thames, the late Mr Talbot came out to Australia in 1862, in the old ship, City of Brisbane, which was lost on the return journey. Mr Talbot had carried on pioneering work in various parts of the Commonwealth. He bad been in our district about nine years, previous to that having resided for some time in the Proserpine district. He was a gentleman highly respected by all with whom he came in contact. By bis death was severed a life partnership of 54 years, Mrs. Talbot now being left to mourn her loss. To her and the other members of the family, Mrs J. Hooper, Mrs G. Rennie, and Mrs J. Brennan (of Ayr), Mrs W. H. Smith (Mackay), Mrs Stevens, Mrs Fraser (Proserpine), Mrs Stan McMahon (Nelia), and Mrs Leach (Sydney) the deepest sympathy is extended in the loss of a most devoted husband and father. An only son passed away when en route to the Great War. [2]
