Biography

Olga was born 6 February 1889 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio, United States. She is the daughter of the self-made millionaire and owner of Ault & Wiborg Co., Cincinnati, Ohio; Frank Bestow Wiborg. Her mother, Adeline Sherman, was the niece of William Tecumseh Sherman and of Senator John Sherman. [1][2]

In the United States Census for 1900 Olga Wiborg (age 11) is living in the household of Frank B and Adaline Wiborg, at Precinct A, Cincinnati City Ward 31, Hamilton, Ohio, United States. She had two sisters: Sarah and Mary H. [3] Her sisters Mary Hoyt Wiborg and Sara Wiborg are the subject of Wikipedia articles.

Raised in Cincinnati, she moved with her family to Germany for several years when she was young, so her father could concentrate on the European expansion of his company. The affluent Wiborg family was easily accepted into the high society community of 20th-century Europe. While in Europe, Sara and her sisters Hoytie and Olga sang at high-class assemblies. Upon returning to the United States, the Wiborgs spent most of their time in New York City and later East Hampton, where they built the 30-room mansion The Dunes on 600 acres just west of the Maidstone Club in 1912. It was the largest estate in East Hampton up to that time. Wiborg Beach in East Hampton is named for the family.[4]

Olga Wiborg's marriage to Sydney Webster Fish was noted in the society pages of The Washington Post. Headlines: "Ms. Wiborg a Bride". Marries Sidney Webster Fish at East Hampton, Long Island. Big Wedding Avoided Because of Recent Death of Bridegroom's Mother, Mrs. Stuyvesant Fish. Motion Pictures Taken of Party. After Breakfast and Dancing Couple Start on a Cruise. Text indicated: "Miss Olga Wiborg, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Wiborg, of New York, previously of Cincinnati, and Sidney Webster Fish, youngest son of Stuyvesant Fish, of Garrison and New York city, were married here today in St. Luke's Episcopal Church."[5]

The marriage license application used a variant in spelling of her surname. Olga Wilborg (26) applied to marry the attorney, Sidney W Fish (30) on 17 Sep 1915 at East Hampton, Suffolk, New York, United States. His parents were [Fish] and [|Marion Anthon]. Her parents were Frank B Wilborg and Adeline Sherman.[6] The marriage record recorded her name as Olga Wiborg and her father as Frank B Wiborg. The marriage date was 18 September, 1915.[7]

In her passport application submitted in 1917, Olga W Fish (age 28) was born 6 February 1889 at Cinncinati, Ohio. Her husband was Sidney W Fish. Her residence at that time was 40 Fifth Avenue, New York. She was planning to travel to Venezuela, Colombia, and Jamaica.[2]

Mrs Olga Stuyvesant Fish's obituary indicates she died 17 April 1937 at Del Monte, California. Her husband was Sidney W Fish and her son was Stuyvesant Fish.[8]
