Anthony Ashley-Cooper was born on 4 October 1900 in Wimborne St Giles, Dorset, England, the son of Anthony Ashley-Cooper and Constance Grosvenor.[1]
He was a British army officer. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of St John in December 1943.[1]
He married twice. Firstly, on 3 February 1927, to Sylvia Hawkes. Anthony and Sylvia divorced on 28 November 1938.[1]
Anthony's second marriage was to Françoise, on 31 March 1937.[1] Their children were:[1]
Anthony was the heir apparent to the Earldom of Shaftesbury,[1] but passed away on 8 March 1947, before his father.[2] He was buried at Wimborne St Giles Churchyard in Wimborne St Giles.[3]
