WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Jean V. "Van" Grover, 57, former resident of Wessington Springs, died Monday, Aug. 6, 1984, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 at F.O. Jolley Funeral Home, Sturgis, with Merlin O'Haver officiating. Burial was in Black Hills National Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 2, 1926, to William and Minnie Wilson at Wessington Springs. She graduated from Wessington Springs High on April 14, 1944, she married James Grover of Highmore. They lived in the Wessington Springs area for a time and moved to Sturgis in 1950. While there she worked as a nurses' aide at the Fort Meade Veterans Administration Hospital.
In 1955 she moved with her family to Belle Fourche and they have lived there since. She was a member of the Belle Fourche Moose Lodge and Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors were excluded for privacy.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
Vanona was born in 1926. She was the daughter of William Wilson and Wilhelmina Van Olst. She passed away in 1984.[1]
