Clarkie Ann Tullos was born in 1817 in Amite County, Mississippi Territory, daughter of Richmond Templeton Tullos (1755–1844) and Anna Mills (~1762–1840).
Clarkie married James David Thornton (born in 1807 in Columbia Richland South Carolina). Their children were:
- Ransom Thornton (1830–~1867)
- Sarah Thornton (1833–1899)
In 1850, Clarkie (32) was living in Smith, Mississippi with her husband, James (43); their children, Ransom (19), and Sarah (17); and Clarkey Thornton (37), Catherine Thornton (15), Mary Thornton (12), Elizabeth Thornton (9), Pemfell Thornton (7), William Thornton (5), Alfred Thornton (3), John Thornton (0), and Alexander Thornton (19). [1]
Clarkie died in June, 1891 in Trinity County, Texas, United States, aged 73. She was buried in Thornton Church Cemetery, Glendale, Trinity County, Texas.[2]
