Addison White was born in May 1824 in Washington County, Virginia. He was the son of James L White and Eliza "Bettie" Wilson Nelson. He passed away in February 1909 in Madison County, Alabama,
US Congressman. Elected to represent Kentucky in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1851 to 1853. Adison White was a Brigadier General in the Alabama Militia. He was elected over Leroy Peevy as Brigadier General of the Madison County Brigade of Alabama Militia. The Democrat April 1861. We have no record of Addison seeing combat. During the occupation of Huntsville all militias were disbanded and prohibited from assembly. Addison spent the War years in Huntsville. Addison White was born in Abingdon Virginia in Washington County on May 1, 1824. He graduated from Princeton College in 1844. In 1850, he was elected as a Whig to the U.S. House of Representatives from Kentucky, serving one term. He moved from Kentucky to Huntsville with his large family just prior to the outset of war. Addison had two sons and four daughters. All were young children during the War. He was the younger brother of Thomas W. White and the uncle of the three Huntsville White brothers who fought. Addison was a cousin of Calvary General Young Conn Humes. And, he was a cousin of Kentucky Congressman John White who was the 15th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
