Biography

Wife of Abraham Graft d/o Elizabeth Willett (sister of Griffith Willett) and Robert Pottenger. She was born 1777 in Berkeley Co., VA (later WV). After the death of her parents, her brother Samuel took her to Pottenger's Station in Nelson Co., VA (later KY). Eunice, who was a year of age, made the journey in a large hickory basket swinging from the side of an old gentle horse balanced by her sister on the opposite side. In Nelson Co., Ky on 1-8-1798, Eunice married Abraham (Abram) Grafft (b. 10-5-1774 in Montgomery Co., MD), the son of George Graft (b. in Holland) and Mary Feree, and the step-son of Griffith Willett. After the birth of their fourth child they resided in Butler Co., OH, where Eunice died on 9-7-1842. Abraham died 4-15-1834.
