Notes

Goderich Township families, 1985 / editor, Alison May (Allen) Lobb: "John Cox, widower, brought sons (George and David) and daus (Margaret, Anne and Jane) with him from Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, IRE in 1833. Two sons, James and John, had arrived in 1832, and dau, Fanny, remained in IRE. In 1831 and 1832 John had paid the first instalment on lots in Goderich Twp. which would eventually (1835) be registered to his sons - James (L19/C6), John (L22, 23/C6), George (L20C6) and David (L21). Perhaps he wished to take advantage of the Canada Co. promise of free passage and assistance from Montreal to the head of Lake Ontario for those immigrants who had made an advance payment. John's life in Goderich Twp. was brief. He was buried from St. George's Anglican Church, Goderich in 1835. His was the seventh entry in the Burial Register. Place of burial is unknown.".
