The following bit of speculation points to the geography of the Wing and Warren families in 1800. It needs to be shared here.
In 1800, Richard and Lydia had a household of twelve (10 children).
On the same Census PAGE we find two clues to the Wing families - Gideon and Allen. It is worth noting Richard's son John married Mary Wing, they were neighbors. Also on the same Census sheet is that son, John and wife Mary. Did Richard cede part of his farm to son John? We can only speculate John was Richard's firstborn male who received his portion before Richard's death. And, further, Richard's father had the Given Name of John!! So we surmise John was Richard's most favored son.
It appears Richard's son John would have married a member of Allen Wing's family (Mary) rather than Gideon's. They, too, were neighbors after all, and Gideon was up there in age and there were no children in the household in 1800; whereas, the families of Richard Warren and Allen Wing were composed in a very similar manner.
John was born of Richard Warren (1785-1828) and Lydia (Beals) Warren (1762-1848) on March 31, 1785 in Vassalboro, Maine. [1]
John married Mary Wing on March 30, 1809 in Vassalboro, Maine [2]
