Martha Ellen French was born on October 11, 1874.[1] In 1880, she was living with her parents Lewis and Martha French in Henry County, Tennessee.[2]
She married William Henry Smith on January 12, 1896, in Henry County.[3][4][5]
In 1900, Martha and William were living in Manlyville, TN, with their three children, Vera, William, and John, and two boarders.[6]
On December 24, 1904, William died at the age of 37, leaving her with five small children to care for.[7]
It appears Martha later married a man with the surname Maddox, who may have outlived her.[8]
Martha Maddox died on June 11, 1950, in Henry County.[9]
