William (Bill) Duckworth served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, Bill settled in the San Antonio area of Texas. He was employed as a crop duster and instructor.
Tragically, after returning to the Detroit area just a few weeks earlier to be closer to his recently retired mother, he was killed in a helicopter crash at the Ford Fair Lane estate in Dearborn. When the blades of his helicopter hit the limbs of two dead trees, he crashed his helicopter instead of setting down amidst the workers preparing for a concert later that evening.
Mr. Duckworth is survived by his wife, Mickey; his son, Bill; his mother, Edna R. Martin; two sisters, Mrs. Betty (Lloyd) England of Plymouth, and Mrs. Donna L. (James) McCann, of Blue Island, Illinois, 5 nieces, and 2 nephews. His first marriage ended in divorce.
