Thank you so much for responding so promptly and with so much information. I have mainly used Ancestry.com and Family search to build my family tree. I also use Geneanet and Heritage (have found lots of Dutch cousins that way) and of course I did DNA thru both 23 and me and Ancestry hoping to find a connection that way.

I have wondered about Samuel Lilley because of his birth and location....they seem logical....the information you have provided is very intriguing and I will certainly keep trying to find my 3rd great grandmother's birth parents ;) I am an amateur at this but find it so rewarding when I can put the pieces together. Thank you so much for your response and help! Nance

My 3rd great grandmother was Ruth H Lilley born 1807 in Campobello New Brunswick. I know this because of census/death records. I do not have any parental/sibling information. I wonder if she is related to your Lilley family?

Hi Nance! Samuel was supposed to have been married to a woman by the name of Mercy Parker before he married Rebecca Green. Stories out there say he and Mercy had a daughter together and that when Mercy died, the daughter was left with Mercy's parents. Whether or not that is true, I don't know. However, it's certainly possible that Ruth is a child of Samuel from a first marriage.

I see you've tested your DNA at 23andMe. I don't know if you've found any matches there to connect to your Lilley lineage. If you haven't also uploaded your results to GEDMatch or MyHeritage, that might be worth trying, to see if you can make Lilley connections. This lineage is my ex-husband's, and I manage his DNA at Ancestry, FTDNA, GEDMatch, and MyHeritage. If you happen to upload to any of those sites, do let me know. I'll keep an eye out for you and see if you match my husband, as well as any other known Samuel Lilley descendants.
