The purpose of this section is to provide the reader access to the information contained within the cited sources; to examine the genealogical record for areas of data corroboration and conflict, and to establish a hierarchy of reliability for the cited information. In addition, this section provides a platform to analyze, cross-correlate, and comment on important aspects of the cited historical data record.

Birth Records

  • Primary Source, Connecticut Town Birth Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection), Waterbury Vital Records 1686-1853 [1] Data Extract: Children of Simeon Beebe, born in Waterbury, New Haven, Connecticut:
  1. ) Clarissa, daughter of Simeon, 20 August 1753
  2. ) Simeon, son of Simeon, born 25 January 1755
  3. ) Martain, son of Simeon 20 August 1756
  4. ) Ephraim, son of Simeon, 10 March 1757
  5. ) Mehetabel, daughter of Simeon, born 13 December 1759
  6. ) Stephen, son of Simeon, born 11 October 1761
  7. ) Phylena, daughter of Simeon, born 11 July 1763
  8. ) Glorina (called Clarissa in Anderson History of Waterbury), daughter of Simeon, born 29 August 1775
  • Primary Source, Connecticut Births and Christenings, 1649-1906 [2] Data Summary:
  1. ) Connecticut Births; Simeon Beebe, son of Simeon Beebe, was born 25 Jan 1755 at WATERBURY TWP, NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.

Census Records

  • Primary Source, 1800 United States Federal Census; [3] Data summary from Ancestry Record 7590 #27697: In the 1800 census, Simeon Bebee, age (45+) was the head of a Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut household. Members of the household include:
  1. ) 1800 Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut Census, Image 3 of 7: Simeon Bebee, age 45+ {Simeon Beebe was 45 years of age in 1800.}
  2. ) One female age 26-44. {Probable identity; wife, Lois (Gunn) Beebe 42 years of age in 1800.}
    1. ) One male age 16-25. {Probable identity; son, Zenas Beebe.}
    2. ) One female age 10-15. {Probable identity; daughter Clara Beebe.}
    3. ) Two females age 0-9 {Probable identity; daughters Harriet and Sally Beebe.}
  • Primary Source, United States Census, 1810; [4] {IMPORTANT Editorial Note: this HTML pointer is indexed to Amasa Beebe Jr.; NOT Simeon Beebe, because FamilySearch failed to index Simeon to this document. However, there is indeed a Simeon Beebe included in this census despite the fact his name is missing in the search index record.} Data summary: In the 1810 census, Simeon Beebe, age (26-44) was the head of a Sharon, LItchfield, Connecticut household. Members of the household include:
  1. ) 1810 Sharon, LItchfield, Connecticut Census, Image 2 of 10: Simeon Beeb, head, age 26-44. {Editorial Note, this Simeon Beebe cannot be the Simeon Beebe Jr. of this profile, because this enumerated Simeon is TOO YOUNG. The Simeon Beebe II of this profile was 55 years of age in 1810, therefore the enumerated Simeon Beebe aged 26-44 was at least 11 years younger than Simeon Jr. Furthermore the daughter aged 10-15 living in the household, suggests that the enumerated Simeon was about 30-35 years of age in 1810. Therefore this enumerated Simeon was 20-25 years younger than Simeon Jr of this profile and was, in all likelihood was his son, Simeon Beebe III. HOWEVER also note that this 1810 census also includes an enumeration of the household of Zenas Beebe, age ~32 and the son of Simeon Beebe Jr. and his household includes a male age 45+ included, though not a female aged 45+. The logical deduction is that Simeon Beebe Jr. was already in poor health in 1810 (note that he died in 1813) and was living with his son Zenas in 1810 because he was in need of physically demanding care.}
    1. ) One female age 26-44. {Probable identity: wife of Simeon III.}
      1. ) One female, age under age 10. {Daughter of Simeon Beebe III.}
      2. ) One female, age 10 - 15.
  2. ) Zenas Beebe (abt.1778-1821) (image 2 of 10): age 26-44 Head. {Probable identity: Son of Simeon Beebe Jr.}
    1. ) One female age 26-44. {Probable identity: Wife of Zenas, Eunice Beebe}
      1. ) One male under 10. {Probable identity: Son, Bradford Beebe.}
      2. ) One female under 10. {Probable identity: Daughter Eliza Beebe.}
    2. ) One Male age 45+. {Probable identity: Simeon Beebe Jr., father of Zenas.}
  3. ) Other Beebes enumerated in this census
    1. ) Sally Beebe (1795-) (image 2 of 10) age 10-15, two sons under 10. {Probable idenity: daughter of Simeon Beebe Jr.}
    2. ) Thomas Boyd Beebe (1781-1840), age 26-44 (on image one of two): {Identity: Son of Amasa Beebe Sr. and a brother of Amasa Beebe jr. there are three children and a grandmother in the household of Thomas, possibly the older female is his mother Elizabeth Talbot Beebe.}
    3. ) Amasa Beebe Jr. (1784-1829) age 26-44 (on image one of two): {Identity: Son of Amasa Beebe Sr. and a brother of Thomas B Beebe. Household includes one male under 10.}
  4. ) That's it for Beebe surnamed households: There is no household headed by either Simeon Beebe Jr. (1755-1813), nor Amasa Beebe Sr. (1761-1815) enumerated in this 1810 Sharon, Connecticut census.

Death Records

  • Primary Source, (burial); Tertiary Source (biography), Find A Grave Index [5] Data Summary:
  1. ) Find A Grave: Memorial #21701634 'Simeon Beebe was born 25 Jan 1755 at Waterbury, New Haven County, Connecticut, USA., and he died 28 Jan 1813 (aged 58) at Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA.
    1. ) Marriage. Simeon Beebe married Lois Gunn (1758–1824).
    2. ) Children:
      1. ) William Henry Beebe (1806–1878). {Editorial Comment (RRB.): It is exceedingly unlikely that Simeon and Lois were the parents of William Henry Beebe; the 1810 Sharon, Conn. Census when Wm Henry was six does not include a household for Simeon Beebe Jr. of this profile and, in fact, the 1810 census suggests Simeon Beebe Jr was living as a dependent in the household of his son Zenas. Since Wm Henry Beebe was born in 1806, he would have been four years of age in 1810. The 1810 Sharon, Connecticut census provides two candidate enumerations for a four year old boy in 1810; one in the household of Amasa Beebe Jr. (1784-1829) and the second in the household of Sally Beebe, both households include sons under the age of ten in the 1810 Sharon, Connecticut Census.}
  2. ) BURIAL. Simeon Beebe, was buried in the Boland Cemetery at Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA. {Editorial Note: noting the burial location for individual Beebe residents of Sharon, Connecticut is beneficial for separating the Clans of Simeon Beebe Jr. and Amasa Beebe. The family members of the Simeon Beebe clan are buried in either the Boland cemetery (Simeon, Lois, and Eunice) or the Ellsworth cemetery (Amy, Bradford, Emily Maria, and William Henry); whereas members of the family of Amasa Beebe Sr. (1761-1815) are buried in the Hillside cemetery
    1. ) Find a Grave profile notes, "ae 58"
    2. ) Tombstone Photograph: Inscription, In | Memory of | SIMEON BEEBE | who died | Jan. 28, 1813 | aged 58 years.
