Biography

"Samuel Aldrich was born April 2nd 1726 at Uxbridge, Mass., the son of Seth and Mary (Unknown) Aldrich; d. 5 July 1814.

In 1737, his mother Mary was appointed to be the guardian of the estate, Samuel, aged about 12 years, inherited from his father.^[1] In 1740, Samuel, aged 14 years, nominated Samuel Thayer of Mendon to be his guardian.^[2]

Huldah Hill became his wife on 21 Jan. 1745. She was born August 15th 1728, the daughter of David and Sarah (Thayer) Hill of Holliston."^[3]

"Samuel Aldrich, 2nd day, 2nd mo., 1726. C.R.4."^[4] This birth record was from the records of Uxbridge Monthly Meeting.

Seth Aldrich is the father of Samuel Aldrich, and it Is confirmed in the record of Samuel Aldrich's marriage. It reads, "Samuel Aldrich, s. of Seth dec., and Huldah Hill, d. of David of Bellingham, 21st day, 1 mo., called March, 1745".^[5]

Mother:

It is ascertained that Deborah (Hayward) Aldrich died sometime after her last child, Noah Aldrich born August 13, 1713. The inscription was eroded badly and was difficult to see on her gravestone at George Aldrich Cemetery in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, and it seemed that she died in 1715.^[6] Evidently, Deborah (Hayward) Aldrich is not the mother of Samuel Aldrich because Samuel Aldrich born in 1726.^[4] It is ascertained that Mary should be the mother of Samuel Aldrich.

Marriage

"Samuel Aldrich, s. of Seth dec., and Huldah Hill, d. of David of Bellingham, 21st day, 1 mo., called March, 1745".^[5] This marriage record was from the records of Smithfield, R. I., Monthly Meeting.
