Great grandmother Martha maiden name was Smith. For a couple generations it was believed that it was Bearden but through DNA it was proven that she was a Smith. Possible reason for the misunderstanding of maiden name was close relationship to the Beardens who lived next door and that Martha's daughter Sarah married Hiram H. Bearden on September 10, 1885 in Conway County, Arkansas.
Research
Your DNA connection almost proves my past research that the mother of Lizzie was not a Martha Bearden but a Martha Ann Smith. I have connections to this Smith line. In fact Martha Ann's youngest sister was Nancy Elizabeth my great grandmother. Martha "aka" Bearden had an older daughter that was Sarah Yow. One of Martha Ann Smith's brother married Clarey Yow. It is possible that Martha and her brother Joseph married relations of that Yow family
