Biography

Thomas Bean is the son of Richard Bean, (1750-1806) of Brentwood, New Hampshire. On August 21, 1802, in Waterboro, Maine, Thomas married Peggy Smith. They were the parents of at least four sons and probably other children, all born at Waterboro: [1]

  • John Bean, born 1806, at Waterboro, died 1855 at Waterboro, married Susan (?nee) Bean (1802-1891) both buried at Pine Grove Cemetery
  • Joel Bean, born September 12, 1807, at Waterboro, Maine, died June 23, 1846 at Biddeford, Maine, married Louisa Thing, buried at Greenwood Cemetery with his father
  • Thomas Bean, Jr.
  • Richard Bean, married Mary Poland and resided in Athens, Maine, parents of eleven children.

Thomas Bean, Sr. died December 7, 1828 and is buried in the Pine Grove Cemtery, in York County, Maine, as is his son John. [2] There is a photograph of his headstone on his memorial, which may be seen here: https://findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=pv&GRid=120806671&PIpi=106810778

On the Find A Grave memorial of his son, Joel, there is a large stone in memory of Thomas and his son Joel Bean, and their ancestors. A photograph of the stone may be seen here: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/find-a-grave-prod/photos/2016/340/120934087_1481049997.jpg

Listed on one side of the stone is the following:

In Memory of

John Bean, the Pioneer, born in Scotland, died in Exeter, NH, 2-8-1718
Jeremiah Bean, b. Exeter, 1765 d. 1727
Rev. James Bean, d. in Brentwood, 1785
Richard Bean, b. 5-28-1750, d. 1-15-1806
Thomas Bean, b. 11-7-1774, d. 12-7-1828
Joel Bean, b. 9-12-1807, d. 6-23-1846

Researcher's Notes

Because Thomas is recorded on the memory stone of his son Joel in Greenwood Cemetery, a duplicate Find A Grave memorial has been created for him. [3] I have contacted the contributor and manager of that memorial, but have no idea whether or not it will be removed. jg July 16, 2017
