Cited in "Colonial families of Philadelphia, Volume 1"[1] as "the accomplished daughter of Seth Craige, one of Philadelphia's leading manufacturers, by his wife Angelina Shaw, and a descendant of a family long prominent in the business and social affairs of Philadelphia. She was born November 19, 1823." The book also cites their marriage date as November 16, 1845 and their children as Craige, Josephine Sarah, and Joshua Bertram.
The United States Census, 1830[2] found S Craig living in Philadelphia Middle Ward, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Members of his household were as follows:

Died 14 Feb 1899, age 76.[4] Her death notice in The Times (Philadelphia) read: LIPPINCOTT. On Tuesday, February 14, 1899, JOSEPHINE CRAIGE, widow of J.B. Lippincott, in her 76th year. Funeral from her late residence, 204 West Rittenhouse Square, on Friday, 17th instant, at 10:30 o'clock. Interment private. Please omit flowers.[5]
Josephine C. Craige Lippincott was buried with her husband in Laurel Hill Cemetery.[6]
