Biography

David was born in 1795. He was the son of Jesse Foster and Bethia Messenger. He passed away in 1871. He is buried in Foster Cemetery SW of Lander, PA.

1850 (August 13th) US Census in Pine Grove Twsp. Warren Co. PA lists: David, 55, farmer, Electa, 53 , Lyman, 26, farmer, Louisa, 21, Louis D., 19, farmer, Thankful, 17, Warren, 14, Almyra, 11, Laura, 8

There was a "Epidemic of fever" going around that killed 4 of the members of the family between June and October of 1850.

By 1860 (July24th) US Census, only David 65, Electa 63, Eliza, school teacher 30, and Laura, 18 were left. A hired farm helper Oscar Knapp,18 was also living at the house in Russelsburgh, Farmington twnsp. Warren Co. PA.
