Rene was born in 1916. He passed away in 2003.
Rene Touzet recorded ten albums for producer Gene Norman on his GNP Crescendo label between 1956 and 1966, and performed regularly at Norman’s club. One of his most famous recordings, "El Loco Cha Cha Cha", was used by Richard Berry as the basis for his pop standard "Louie Louie," of which there are dozens of versions. "El Loco Cha Cha Cha" is also on the Pulp Fiction soundtrack and is one of the songs that John Travolta and Uma Thurman dance to when they win the dance contest. Other well-known recordings are "Pa' Chismoso Tu" and his arrangement of "Tender is the Night."
Touzet had two wives: Isabel Gonzalez (1917-1991) and Mercy Remos. He had two daughters with Isabel: Olivia and Nilda Touzet-Gonzalez. He had three other daughters: Olga Maria Touzet-Guillot (with singer Olga Guillot), Lisa Bahadoor, and Bonita Calderon.
