Biography

George W. Adkins was born about 1818 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. His father Jarvis Green Adkins was half Native American through his mother, making George one quarter Native American. He moved with his family to Campbell County, Tennessee, about 1820. He eventually moved to Fentress County, where he lived at the time of the 1850 census.
