Sébastien Le Prestre, marquis de Vauban est un ingénieur, architecte militaire, urbaniste, ingénieur hydraulicien et essayiste français. Il est nommé maréchal de France par Louis XIV.
Sébastien Le Prestre, fils d'Albin Le Prestre écuyer et de damoiselle Edmée Corminol (Carmignolles, Cormignolles) est né à Saint-Léger-du-Foucheret (aujourd'hui Saint-Léger-Vauban) dans le Morvan, et y a été baptisé le 15 mai 1733[1].
