Biography

Katherine Irnetz Nunn was born on December 27, 1931, in Springfield, Missouri, when her father, James, was 27, and her mother, Alice, was 27. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] She had one brother, James Albert Nunn (1928-2012), and one sister, Joyce Ann Nunn, born on January 25, 1936, in Missouri when Katherine was 4 years old.

Katherine married Clifford Reed Saunders in Springfield, Missouri, on December 25, 1949, when she was 17 years old. [6] They had met when she was a part of the "Coke and Platter Club," an organization involving local youth and military/vets. Katherine's mother liked Clifford, but the more Clifford pursued, the more Katherine tried to resist. He, of course, won that battle. [7]

Their son David Alan was born on April 19, 1952, in New Hampshire, where they lived while Clifford was in seminary at Andover Newton, in Massachusetts and serving a church in New Hampshire. Son Clifford Scott was born on November 4, 1953, in Springfield, Missouri, after they returned from New Hampshire.[7]

Katherine's husband, Clifford, served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. About 1955, Katherine and sons David and (Clifford) Scott travelled to Japan where Clifford was stationed. While there, they adopted Kim Yung Tae, who was renamed Robert Kim Saunders, born August 5, 1946, in North Korea. Kim Yung Tae was a Korean War orphan. He had shown up at the Army base where Clifford was serving as a Chaplain. The soldiers there "adopted" Kim Yung Tae as a mascot, but Clifford and Katherine decided he deserved a bit more and added him to the family (9). Katherine, along with David, Scott, and Robert returned to the United States, arriving in Hawaii, USA, on November 11, 1956. [8]

Katherine and Clifford's daughter, Christine Louise, was born on September 28, 1958, in Springfield, Missouri.

Katherine's father James Alvin passed away on March 18, 1962, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 57. [9]

Son Jeffery Reed was born on September 9, 1964, in Creston, Iowa, USA.

Katherine's mother Alice Katherine passed away on January 21, 1990, in Alvarado, Texas, at the age of 85.

Katherine's husband Clifford Reed passed away on March 29, 2006, in Bedford, Ohio, at the age of 80. They had been married 56 years.

Her brother James Albert died on February 10, 2012, in Strafford, Missouri, when Katherine Irnetz was 80 years old.

Katherine Irnetz Nunn died on July 27, 2021, in Cleburne, Texas, when she was 89 years old. Cause of death was renal failure as a result of COVID-19.
