Mary Adelaide Davis was born on 13 Jul 1869 in Rockne, Bastrop County TX, daughter of Martin Van Buren Davis (1844–1926) and Sarah Ann Erwin (1850–1916).
Her siblings were:

In 1880, Mary (10) was living in household of Martin Davis (36) in Justice Precinct 8, Bastrop with her mother, Sarah (30); her siblings, Martin (36), and Josephine (2); and Mollie Davis (10). [1]
Mary (19) married Benjamin Algernon Tobin Sr. (24) (born on 26 Aug 1864 in Colorado County, Texas; son of Robert Hardin Tobin) on 17 Dec 1888 in Blanco County, Texas.[2] Their known children were:
- Dennie Elmer Tobin (7 Feb 1890 – 17 Jan 1971)
- Eugene Alton Tobin (22 May 1892 – 24 Sep 1937)
- Eva Tracy Tobin (4 Mar 1895 – 11 Apr 1973)
- Pearl Addie Tobin (23 Apr 1897 – 19 Sep 1934)
- Benjamin Algernon Tobin Jr. (16 Sep 1899 – unknown)
