Valentine Browne, 1st Earl of Kenmare (1754-1812) was the son of Sir Thomas Browne 6th Bt and Anne Cooke.
He m. (1) 7 July 1777 Charlotte Dillon (11 Sep 1755-15 Aug 1782) , da. of Henry Dillon 11th Viscount Dillon of Costello-Gallin and Charlotte Lee. They had one daughter:
He m. (2) 24 Aug 1785 at Lyons, co. Kildare Mary Aylmer, da. of Michael Alymer of Lyons and Margaret Mathew. Mary died 16 Oct 1806 in Portman Sq, Marylebone. [George Edward Cokayne p 115]

His great-great-grandfather Sir Valentine Browne 3rd Bt. was created 1st Viscount Kenmare [Ireland] and Baron Castlerosse [Ireland] on 20 May 1689, by King James II, after his disposition by the English Parliament, but while he still possessed his rights as King of Ireland.
These were one of 7 titles duly inscribed on the patent rolls of Ireland by King James II while he was King of Ireland after being deposed as the King of England, and have never been erased.
On 12 Feb 1798, Valentine Browne was created Viscount Kenmare and Baron of Castleross, the same titles noted above which were not recognized. He was subsequently created Earl of Kenmare [I] 3 Jan 1801.
