Aubrey Kemp was a World War II hero, in that he survived duration in a Japanese POW camp in the Philippine Islands and returned home to Tennessee after the war.
I believe he partook of the infamous Bataan death march, and after the war he lectured at various schools and institutions about his experiences as a POW. He worked as a local police dispatcher.
My Uncle Bob Wilkins took me to visit with Aubrey's widow Maxine in September of 1999 and she gave us information and stories, and allowed us to copy/video photos of the family. She died after 2000. What a kind and generous lady.
