Based on the date of his marriage, George Learmonth would have been born around 1523.

SIR GEORGE LEARMONTH OF BALCOMIE, succeeded his father in the lands of Balcomie for which he had Sasine on 31 October 1551,3

George married, before 18 August 1548, Euphemia Leslie, daughter of George Leslie, 3rd Earl of Rothes.[1]

George died in June 1585 and his estate was confirmed in Edinburgh Commissary Court on 1 July 1586.[1][2]

The couple had nine children:[citation needed]

  1. JAMES LEARMONTH OF BALCOMIE was included in a charter in favour of his parents for the lands of Eglismagirill on 7 February 1561. He m. Anna, daughter of Laurence Mercer of Meikleour, (c/m 9 September 1587), and dsp on 22 March 1598.
  2. Sir John Learmonth of Balcomie,
  3. William Learmonth, was a witness to a charter by Thomas Moneypenny of Kinkell for the lands of Camrone in favour of Walter Hay dated 13 June 1606 and is then styled brother to Sir John Learmonth of Balcomie.
  4. Robert Learmonth, 1st of St. Nicholas, was admitted an Advocate and m. at Edinburgh on 28 February 1598, to Margaret, daughter of Sir John Skene of Curriehill. He d. in 1643
  5. Isobel Learmonth, m. Thomas Forrester of Strathenry, (c/m 20 August, 15721)
  6. Helen Learmonth, m. John Myrton of Pitollie, second son of Thomas Myrton of Cambo.
  7. Margaret Learmonth, m. Andrew Sibbald of Over Rankeilour, and had issue.
  8. Elizabeth Learmonth, m. George Barron of Kinnaird, and had issue.
  9. Catherine Learmonth, m. Cuthbert Borthwick of Hesperston.
