Biography

Jane was born in 1709 to John Harding and Mary Littlefield. Abington church records contain the following record of her "May 30 1730 Jean Harding acknowledged the Sin of fornication owned the Covenant & had her son Benjamine Baptized”^[1]. Benjamin, may have been the Benjamin Gurney mentioned in Jane's father's will. She married Ebenezer Spear on December 29th 1731 and their first child was born the next year in Abington. Ebenezer and Jane moved to Braintree soon after and had six more children there. They were involved in various land transactions there, the last of which was in 1770.
