Family

Miss Winifred Louise Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Jones, 206 South Union, and Mr. Gene Palmer Remy, son of Mrs. R. E. Remy, of Osborne, were married at noon Saturday, October 28, in Johnson City, Tenn. The ceremony took place at the home of Rev. and Mrs. W. O. Stephens, of Johnson City. Mr. Stephens read the service. The home was decorated with bronze chrysanthemums and autumn foliage. A wedding luncheon was served immediately after the ceremony. The bride wore a brown alpaca street dress with cream accessories, and had Talisman roses. Mrs. Remy is a graduate of the Emporia High school and attended Emporia State, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She is a past honored queen of the local Job's Daughters bethel. Mr. Remy also is a graduate of Emporia High school and has attended Emporia State and the Emporia Business college. He was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity here. Mr. Remy now is employed with the Kress company at Johnson City. The couple will live at 416 West Maple, Johnson City. ^[1]

Death

Emporians' Niece Dies. News has been received of the death of Mrs. Gene (Winifred Jones) Remy of Friendswood, Tex., a niece of Mrs. James S. Miller, 26 South Neosho St., and Carl S. Jones, 944 Elm St., Mrs. Remy, a former Emporian, was the daughter of Mrs. Edith Farnsworth, of Friendswood, and the late Dewey R. Jones. ^[2]

Winifred Remy's interment is at the foot of her mother, Edith Hatchett Jones Farnsworth, in B-129-6, next to her father Dewey Jones, B-129-5, of the Maplewood & Memorial Lawn Cemeteries, Emporia, Kansas. The family would like to place a footstone. ^{[3] [4]}
