George was born at Ballycastle in Ireland and migrated to Western Australia, arriving in Fremantle in the late 1920s. George met and married another expatriate from Northern Ireland, Margaret Rice, who had also arrived in Western Australia around the same time as George. After marrying, George lived in Cottesloe where he and Margaret had two children, George 'junior' and Patricia. George worked all his life in the Fuel storage facilities in North Fremantle. During WW2 his work became 'clasified' because of its importance to the Australian, English and US Navy ships using Fremantle Harbour as a base for the Indian ocean. Apon retirement, George and Margaret moved to North Cottesloe where they lived the rest of thier lives. George was a keen golfer and recreational fisherman and valued member of the local Methodist Church. He's remembered as a loyal, dependable and honest employee, and dedicated family man and father.
