Anson was born in 1784, the son of Phil Sperry & Mary Peet. He married Laura Pierpont on January 9, 1812. ^[1]Anson was a lawyer in Manchester, Vt. & later, in Plattsburgh, New York. He passed away in 1830.

He was a lawyer, and served two terms as a state's attorney for Vermont; in 1819 was appointed brigade judge advocate of the 42nd Brigade of Infantry of New York.

He married Luna Peet (his 1st cousin) in 1806, daughter of Samuel Wildman Peet and Lucy Bostwick. After Luna's death, he married 2nd, Laura Pierpont in 1812, great-granddaughter of Rev. James Pierpont and Mary Hooker.
