He was born on 21 Sep 1895 in Augusta County, Virginia, USA and was the son of Mollie Lee (Eubank, 1870–1923) and Charles Thomas Carter (1866–1947).

Carl Carlesley Carter married Grace Humphreys (1905–1938).

He passed away on 23 Jul 1970 and was buried in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery at Stuarts Draft, Augusta County, Virginia, USA. ^[1]

Obituary

Carl Carlesley Carter, 74, died suddenly Thursday morning at his home. A native of Augusta County, he was born Sept. 21, 1895, a son of the late Charles T. and Molly Eubank Carter. He was a member of the Stuarts Draft Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Douglas W. Pence and Mrs. Marvin E. Humphries, both of Stuarts Draft; one brother, Frank T. Carter of Culpeper; three sisters, Mrs. James L. Matheny of Waynesboro, Mrs. Harry Patterson of Lyndhurst, and Mrs. Sally C. Bosquet of Richmond; also five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Stuarts Draft Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Judson D. Baldwin. Burial will be in Calvary United Methodist Church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Rex T. Campbell, Nelson B. Cohron, Leslie Broomfield, W. R. Wagner, Thomas E. Fitzgerald and Ward Lee Cohron. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. T. L. Corsuch, Herbert Harris, B. B Kube, William Kyle, Morris Fitzgerald, Melvin R. Eavers, Thomas R. Bush, N. H. Forbes, Joseph Cohron, William Black, Marvin Kiser and Carlyle Greiner. The body will remain at the Fred Henry Funeral Home, Staunton, until 12:45 p.m. Saturday when it will be taken to the church. The family is at the home of Mr. Carter's daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin E. Humphries of Stuarts Draft, where they will receive friends. ^[2]
