Biography

Lucille was born in 1921 in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Edith Lanbaugh/Laubaugh and George W Sides.

1930s

In Apr 1930, Lucille E (9) lived in Tomhicken Sugarloaf Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania with her father George W (48), mother Edith L (42), older brothers James W (21), Benjamin F (17), George R (16), Harold E (14), Leo A (11), and younger brother Orvey (6). Their monthly rent was $8. George's age at first marriage was 24, Edith was 18. George worked as a coal miner; James worked as an automobile salesman. [1]

In Apr 1935, she lived in Chestertown, Kent County, Maryland. [2]

On 24 Jul 1939, she married David Hayes Stang in Delaware County. David was the son of Helen L and Arthur Stang Sr. [3]

1940s

In 1940, Lucille (19) lived in Ridley Township, Delaware County with her husband David (31). David's highest level of education completed was 8th grade, Lucille completed 2 years of high school. They rented their house for $22.50 per month. David worked in the US Navy yard. [2]

In Nov 1940, her son David Stang Jr. was born in Pennsylvania.

In Aug 1942, her son Raymond Stang was born in Pennsylvania.

1950s

On 14 Apr 1950, Lucille Stang (29) lived at 335 Morris Ave in Ridley Township with her husband David (41), son David Jr (9), and son Raymond (8). Their home was not a farm and their property was less than two acres. They were white and born in Pennsylvania. David worked 40 hours per week as an electrician for a private electric company; Lucille was a homemaker. [4]

1960s

Nov 1961, Mrs Stang and her husband David H lived at 201 Elmwood Ave in Woodlyn. Her son reenlisted in the Army for six years as a vehicle driver in Wiesbaden, Germany. [6]

In Jul 1966, her mother Edith died. Lucille was living in Ridley Township at the time.[7]

1970s

In Nov 1970, her husband David Sr (61) died. They had been living at 2601 Chinchilla Drive in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware.[3]

On 29 Oct 1974, Lucille died. She was buried in Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills. [8]

Mrs. Lucille E. Stang, 53, of 187 5th Ave., Aston, the widow of David H. Stang, died Tuesday in Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland.

Mrs. Stang, the former Lucille E. Sides, lived 15 years in Ridley Township's Woodlyn area, more than three years in Northcrest, Del, and two years at her late residence in Village Green.

She is survived by two sons, David H. Stang Jr. of Ridley Township and S.Sgt. Raymond Stang, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany; a daughter, Lois Stang, at home; four brothers, Benjamin F. Sides of Glenolden, Harold E. And Orvie E., both of Aston, and Conrad C. Of Ardmore; a sister, Mrs. Idema Ross of Haverford Township, and four grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Melvin I. Minshall Funeral Home, Middletown and Knowlton Roads, Middletown. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park, Concord.

Calling hours will be this evening at the funeral home.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the MELVIN J. MINSHALL FUNERAL HOME, Middletown & Knowlton Rds. Interment Edgwood Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday evening.
