The biography for Bill Kirkpatrick is empty. What can you add?
I was born in Lowell, Mass.
I have one older sister living in Maine and a brother living in NH.
My father, Irving Hatfield Kirkpatrick, was born in Quispamsis, N.B., Canada and emigrated to the U.S. I believe at some point in the 1930's.
I live in Rhode Island. I am married, with one son and twin grandchildren. My career is social work.
I have delved into genealogy a few times over the years and have accumulated some information on the Colquhoun clan and history of historical figures in Scotland, and can trace my Canadian roots back 4 generations.
It appears that my ggg grandfather, Andrew, emigrated from Scotland (or maybe Ireland), and was one of 2 or 3 Kirkpatrick's to receive a land grant from King George along the Kennekebasis (sp?) river in New Brunswick.
I have many notes that I am eager to share with others and verify accuracy.
Genealogy of the Kirkpatrick Family - bu=y James E. Kirkpatrick, January 10, 1985, 13 High St., Florence, MA 01060
The Kirkpatricks migrated from Northern Ireland to Scotland in teh 10th century. The fist of this name appears to be Roger de Kirkpatrick who attested to a charter by Robert the Bruce, who died in 1141. Another record state that Ivo de Kirkpatrick and his heirs received a charter in 1190. A village in the parish of Clobaum bears teh name Kirkpatrick. Near teh end of the 18th century, William, son of William Kirkpatrick of Conheath, a "dealer in spirits", married a Donna Francesca, Daughter of Baron de Grivegnee; one of their daughters maried Emperor Napoleon II. The marriage within a Kirkpatrick was being considered in aristocratic circles a misalliance . Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe of Haddam was consulted and produced a "family tree" showing a root in Kings, there upon King Ferdinand VII approved the marriage.
Canadian Roots: The Kirkpatricks migrated from Scotland to Canada in the early 1700s settling in Rothesay along Kennebecasis Bay. The memorial window over the altar in teh Gondola Point Chapel is ascribed to Andrew Kirkpatrick and Jane McPhilomy (spelling may be McPhilmeny), with dates of their deaths: Jane - Dec. 1868 & Andrew, May 18, 1880. They were married Dec. 15, 1822. Children - Mary, Andrew, Joseph, Margaret, Helen, Eliza, Elijah, John, David, Samuel, Marie, caroline and William Alexander. William Alexander was born Aug. 2, 1830 and married Margaret Christie. She died May 6, 1877. Children - James, Andrew, Martha, Ada May, Anne Marie, William Alexander, Arthur and Alexander Wellington. William Alexander married Phebe Hatfield. Alexander Wllington married Minnie Beals, Oct. 29th, 1896, 8 children.
