In this city, January 19, 1863, of Consumption, Mr. Samuel Graham, aged 43 years. In September, 1861, he enlisted in Captain DeLand's Company, 9th Michigan Infantry, and while in the service, contracted the disease of which he finally died. As a soldier he was ready, earnest and untiring in the discharge of his duty, and won the esteem and warm friendship of his officers and brother soldiers. During the severe experience of the 9th in Kentucky, he gave his whole time and strength to the care of the sick and in this work, In the hospitals, he found the seeds of disease which terminated his life. We know that his memory will ever be green in the hearts of his friends and companions, and though he may have faults in life, (and who has not) he had also virtues, - a kind heart, a willing hand, and pure patriotism. He leaves a wife and six children, the eldest son also in the Army. He was buried in the family burying ground, in the town of Parma. Like thousands of other noble and patriot spirits, he has gone to an early grave, a willing sacrifice to the honor and integrity of his country. Let us give to his bereaved family a warm sympathy and to his memory a just reward.
