Biography

Solomon Gay was born 24 Feb 1740/41 in Dedham, Massachusetts, the son of Timothy and Azubah Gay ^[1], and baptized 1 Mar 1740/41 ^[2]

He married Mrs. Abigail Gould on 4 Feb 1862 ^[3], intention perhaps in Stoughton on 12 Jan 1762 ^[4](several records exist). Per the Stoughton record, he was of Dedham and she of Stoughton.

Solomon served in the Revolutionary War:

Private, Capt. Samuel Payson's Co., Col. John Graton's regt. of Minute-men, which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775; service days; also Capt. Samuel Payson's Co., Col. Notes

per Genealogical and Family History of the State of Vermont, Solomon was a minute man during the Revolutionary War "and was one of the immortal band which resisted the British troops at Lexington."
