William Welch was born in about 1641 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of William Wayne Welch and Catherine Stansbury. (Note: Middle Names were extremely rare in this time period and often mean records of two persons have been conflated into one.)

Baltimore County, Maryland record dated 2 Aug 1673 regarding sale of 200 acres called Falmouth from William & Sarah Salisbury, planter, to William Morgan & William Welch, planters.

1674 Cecil County formed from Baltimore County

Cecil County, Maryland was formed in 1674 from Baltimore County; apparently this land is part of a tract of land which was in Baltimore County but became Cecil County when the border was officially changed in 1702[2]

11 Dec 1706 regarding sale of land from Francis & Elizabeth Barney, boatwright to Richard Bennett, which refers to 15 acres that Francis Barney bought from William & Dulsabella Welch; these 15 acres were formerly part of a tract called Falmouth.

William Welch of Talbot County died there between 2nd June 1702, when his will was written, and 29th Mch, 1703, when it was proved. Since the calendar at the time made 1702 continue until 25 March, his death would likely have been in 1702 (old style) and 1703 (new style).

  • To unborn child, 75 A., “The Wilderness” on St. Michael's Ck. and afsd. plantation in event of death of son Robert without issue.

His service was held on 30 Mar 1703 at St. Peter's Parish in Talbot County, Maryland. He is possibly buried at Christ Church Cemetery in Easton, Maryland. [4].
