Biography

Patience Latting was born 31 Dec 1688 Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut Colony.^[1][2]

Patience (recorded in her husband's will as Pashane, as is their daughter of the same name) was born on the last day of 1688, "a daughter of Thomas and Mercy (Wakelyn or Wakeley) Latting of Ripton parish, Stratford, now Shelton, Conn." She married John Gilbert, also of Ripton, on 25 November 1714;^[3] they had six children. The family removed to New Jersey in the 1720s. Patience was still living at the time her husband's will was proved in 1756.^[4]
