Biography

Mary was born about January 28, 1731 in Hingham, Massachusetts. ^[1] She was the daughter of Abel Cushing and Mary Jacob Cushing. She was the second daughter of this couple named Mary.^[2] Their first daughter also named Mary was born August 12,1722 and had died October 12, 1726.

She was baptized in Hingham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts on February 13, 1732. ^[3]

Mary married Reverend Daniel Shute on March 24, 1753 in Hingham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. ^[4] Daniel was the pastor at the third (later second) parish of Hingham.

In 1854 Daniel purchased a homestead lot and a house still occupied by their descendants in the 1900s was erected soon after. ^[5]

They had two children both born in Hingham: Mary born March 8, 1754 and Daniel born January 30, 1756. ^[6]

She passed away on February 12,1756 in Hingham at the age of twenty-four.^[6]
