Biography
Matilda Mead was born around 1800. At least one source has the name 'Meadows' attached to her; I'm not sure if it is a middle name or a problem with the surname.
Matilda married Joshua Clevenger on December 24, 1820, in Pike, Virginia.
The 1840 U.S. Census for Pike, Kentucky, records the presence of a Joshua Clevenger. The household consists of: 2 males under 5 years; 2 males between 10 and 15 years; 1 male between 15 and 20 years; 1 male between 40 and 50 years; 1 female under 5 years; 2 females between 5 and 10 years; 2 females between 15 and 20 years; 1 female between 1 female between 20 and 30 years; 1 female between 30 and 40 years.
Matilda Mead Clevenger died after 1840 and before Joshua's second marriage in 1844. It could be that she died in childbirth with her youngest son, Henry, who was born in 1842.
