Mary (Lee) Smithwick was born in North Carolina.

We find Mary Lee in the Craven County household of her parents Richard and Nancy (Dixon) Lee^[1] along with three other siblings in 1860, North of the Neuse River, Craven, North Carolina.^[2] The same family with whom she was living in the 1870 census Mary Lee (age 16) was in Township 2, Craven, North Carolina, United States.^[3]

Mary Lee and Morgan^[4] Wesley Smithwick were married 24 Feb 1876 in Pamlico, North Carolina.^[5]

In the 1880 census Mary Smithwich (sic) (Smithwick) (age 26), Keeping House, was the wife of W. Smithwich (sic) Smithwick in Township 1, Pamlico, North Carolina, United States.^[6]
