Biography

Nelson Admiral Parker Rhodes was born on 3 May 1845 in Amherst, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia the son of John Rhodes and Parmelia Parker. Nelson married Sarah Davison Curry (or Currie) on 18 Dec 1872 in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts, USA.^[1]

At the time of the 1881 Canada Census, Nelson, Sarah, Edgar N, and Mimi Rhodes were listed as living in Amherst, Nova Scotia, along with Mark and Alfred Curry, who may have been Sarah's brothers^[2]. At the time of the census, Nelson's occupation was listed as "Manufacturing".

At the time of the 1891 Canada Census, Nelson A, Sarah, and Edgar N Rhodes were listed as living in Amherst, Nova Scotia, along with Elizabeth J Curry, who may have been Sarah's sister^[3].

At the time of the 1901 Canada Census, Nelson A, Sarah, Edward were listed as living in Amherst, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia along with Sarah's sister Bessie Curry^[4] He was a partner with his brother-in-law Nathaniel Curry (1851-1931) in the Rhodes Curry Co. of Amherst. At the time of the census, Nelson's occupation was listed as Vice Merchant Manager Rhodes Curry Co.

Nelson died in Amherst on September 30, 1909^[5]. On his death registration, Nelson's occupation was listed as "Manufacturer", and he was buried in Amherst Cemetery, Amherst, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Find A Grave: Memorial #151606158
