"Richard Hazard was born in Co. Antrim, Ireland (now Northern Ireland) about 1818. His family name is variously spelled 'Hazard', 'Hasard' and 'Hassard' in documents.
Richard married Ann Crozier in 1843 in Ireland.
Richard, Ann and their infant son Robert (born 1844) immigrated to Canada in 1845. They first settled in Torbolton township in Carleton Co., Ont., a destination for Irish Protestant immigrants in eastern Ontario. The following children were all born there: Ann (or Annie, born 1847), John (b. 1848) Richard Jr. (b. 1851), William (b. 1858), Catherine (b. 1859) and Alexander (b. 1862).
Sometime between the birth of their last child Alexander and the 1871 Census, Richard, Ann and their family moved to Thorne Township, Pontiac Co., Que. They followed other families from Torbolton Township who had also moved up and across the Ottawa River to Pontiac County.
Richard was a farmer. He was Anglican.
Richard Hazard died in Thorne on 18 February 1896. He was buried on 21 February 1896. His wife Ann died in 1899.
