Marceline was born in 1927. She died on 18 November 1978 when her husband, Jim Jones, ordered the "revolutionary suicide" of Peoples Temple members. She was buried at earlham Cemetery in Richmond, Indiana.[1]
Marriage & Children
Marceline married Jim Jones, on 12 June 1949 in Wayne County, Indiana. Jones was actually her third cousin, although it is unknown if they knew this. They only had one biological child due to Marceline's health issues, but they adopted several children of various races, which they called their "Rainbow Family." In 1960, they became the first white family in Indiana to adopt a black child. Their children are listed below. Those whose names are in italics died in Jonestown, Guyana with her.
Agnes Pauline (b. 1943, Indiana, United States; adopted 1954)
In their wills written in August 1977,[2] Jones and Marceline also acknowledged Johnny Moss Brown (b. 1950, Texas, United States) as their adopted son, although he was never formally adopted.[3] He also died in Jonestown.[4]
