Biography

When Sgt. Major Bartley Gorin Pugh was born on 22 April 1841, in Decatur, Macon, Illinois, United States, his father, Brevet Brig. Gen. Isaac Campbell Pugh, was 35 and his mother, Elvira E. Gorin, was 26. He married Mary Catherine Rohrer on 3 September 1862, in Morgan, Illinois, United States.^[1] They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. He lived in Macon, Illinois, United States in 1850^[2] and 1860.^[3] He lived in Waverly, Morgan, Illinois, United States in 1870^[4] and 1880.^[5] Bartley served in the American Civil War, Union Army, Co A, 41st IL Infantry from 5 August 1861 to 1864, mustered in Decatur, Macon, Illinois, United States, served 3 years; promoted Sergeant Major & Trans to Non Com Staff Promoted Adjutant Trans to Field & Staff (Hq).^[6] He died on 25 September 1881, in Waverly, Morgan, Illinois, United States, at the age of 40, and was buried in Waverly East Cemetery, Waverly, Morgan, Illinois, United States.^[7][8]
