Biography

Nancy Anne Grimes/Grymes was born in 1776 to William Fitzhugh Grimes and Margaret Vivian Pratt in Virginia. Nancy first married William Wiles in 1792, Princess Ann, Virginia. [1]

Nancy married Rev. Rice Haggard after the death of her previous husband, William Wiles. About 1812 they moved to Cumberland, Kentucky.[2]

Rev Rice Haggard died in 1819.[3]

Likely: Residence 1820: Paoli, Cumberland County, Kentucky as Nancy Haggard.[4]

Likely Residence 1830: South of Cumberland River, Cumberland County, Kentucky as Nancy Haggart[5]

Residence 1850: Burksville Township, Cumberland County, Kentucky, age 74. Also in the household are her son James Haggard (38, born in Virginia) and Elizabeth King (14), born in Kentucky.) [6] James is described as farmer and magistrate.

Residence 1860: District 2, Cumberland County, Kentucky age 84. Also in household is her son Jas Haggard (48).[7]

Nancy Haggard of Cumberland County, Kentucky appears in Slave Schedule for 1850 [8] and 1860 [9]

Nancy is mentioned with her spouse Rice in the 1876 marriage record of daughter Susan T Miles [11]
