Life events

Emily "Lily" Shelford was born in London in 1864, the daughter of William Shelford, C.E. (civil engineer).[1][2]
On the 6th October 1888, Lily married Clement Sneyd Colvin, Esq., in St Saviour's, Clapham, Surrey.[2][3][4]
Lily Colvin (née Shelford) died in Clapham, Surrey on the 15th March 1891, aged twenty-seven years—twelve days after giving birth to her daughter, Anna Colquhoun.[5][6][7][8]

Marriage notice printed in the Hertford Mercury and Reformer, 20 October 1888:
Wedding.—At St. Saviour’s Church, Clapham Common, on the 4th inst., Mr. Clement Sneyd Colvin, son of the late Mr. John Russell Colvin, Lieutenant-Governor of the North-West Provinces, East Indies, was married to Emily (Lily), eldest daughter of Mr. William Shelford, M.Inst.C.E., of Westminster and Campden-hill. The officiating clergy were the Rev. L.E. Shelford, rector of Stoke Newington, and uncle of the bride; the Rev. A. Thornley, vicar of South Leverton, and brother-in-law of the bridegroom; and the Rev. Herbert Hughes, curate-in-charge. After the ceremony the wedding party drove to 3, Observatory-gardens, where Mr. and Mrs. William Shelford entertained a large circle of relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Colvin afterwards left for the Continent.[9]
