Biography
James Elihu Peters, son of Joseph and Eliza (Carey) Peters, was born on 18 Oct. 1834 at Almond, Allegany County, New York.[1] He appeared on the census of 2 Sep. 1850 in the home of his parents at Farmington Township, Tioga, Pennsylvania.[2]
He married Priscilla Smith, daughter of Henry and Phebe Marie (Cook) Smith, on 3 Sep. 1857.[1]
He was a farmer when he and Priscilla appeared on the census of 7 June 1880 at Farmington Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. His mother was living with them.[3]
James died on 23 March 1896 at Charleston, Tioga County, Pennsylvania and was buried at Peters Cemetery, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.[1]
