Biography

Martha Tyler was born on 30 December 1794 in Limington, Maine. Her parents were Joseph Tyler and Jane (March) Tyler[1].

She married Joshua Strout on 9 May 1816 in Limington, Maine[2]. Their children, all born in Raymond, Maine, were as follows[3]:

1. Mary A., born 18 December 1816; died 28 June 1869
2. Syrena, born 17 February 1818; died 1 August 1861
3. Jane, born 15 August 1819; died 25 September 1870
4. Alonzo, born 3 January 1821
5. Albert, born 17 May 1822
6. Edwin, born 25 March 1824
7. Freeman, born 17 September 1825
8. Elizabeth, born 25 October 1827
9. Alberona, born 27 March 1829; married Henry L. Tyler
10. James, born 20 July 1830
11. Margaret, born 26 January 1832

After Joshua's death in 1831, Martha married Edward Jordan, a widower. They had one child[4]:

1. Winfield Scott, born 8 Apr 1841; died 1842

Martha Tyler passed away on 25 December 1867 and is buried in Raymond Hill Cemetery in Raymond, Maine[5].
