Calvin was born on December 5, 1856 at Winona in Scott County, Tennessee. He was the son of John Riley Chambers and Christine (Anderson) Chambers . He married Martha Angeline Hughett on October 8,1872 in Scott County; they divorced before 1876. Calvin then married Lucretia Ann Buttram on October 19, 1876 in Scott County. After her death in 1907, he married Ernie S. Willoughby on August 31, 1908 in Scott County. He passed away on October 23, 1931 at Huntsville in Scott County.
